For us, Jessica was an obvious choice for one of the models for the Marimekko second hand collection. In addition to her working at Marimekko, she fulfills our single, most important criteria that we look for when thinking about choosing our models: a person that we would gladly spend a day with.
She brought many essentials to the set: a burst of energy, as well as anecdotes on prints and pieces from past Marimekko collections (and we did take notes!). She sure came prepared and even brought her own shoe polish to the photoshoot.
And in no time she was ready to jump in and try anything on – what a delightful attitude on life!
So, Jessica, how’s life, what are you most excited about at the moment?
“I think we’ve had the best Fall by far. The colors outside are so beautiful and it hasn’t been raining (almost) at all. I have a new playlist I keep listening to on repeat, it’s the soundtrack of my life. Try: Pure Bathing Culture – Pray for Rain. Or: Kleerup – Let me In feat. Susanne Sundfør.”
What do you most appreciate about working at Marimekko?
“The strong company values are something that we can adapt to our daily lives. I’m grateful for everybody I get to work with. Meeting Marimekko customers is my favorite part of the day. I love when a customer walks in and tells me their Marimekko story and are eager to show me that they’re wearing a Marimekko dress that can be more than 30 years old. The dresses can go from generation to generation.”
What is your favorite piece from the Marimekko second hand collection, why?
“The Jacqueline dress for sure! The story behind the dress is so fascinating. Jacqueline Kennedy was wearing the dress on the cover of the December edition of Sports Illustrated 1960. The original dress is designed by Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi. The design is timeless. I really loved the styling too. You can dress it up with a pair of high heels to a summer fest or you can dress it a bit down with a pair of boots or sneakers, and you’re ready to go. It’s more than just a dress. Every woman should have a Jacqueline dress in their wardrobe.”
What’s your superpower?
“I know how to make the most delicious chocolate cake in the world. Secret ingredient: super powder and positive energy.”
Thanks Jessica! Time well spent with you. Maybe next time lets have cake as well?
